May Pang's Swinging 60th

Non-stop jams - featuring celebrity talent - and devoted friends were highlights in the celebration of May Pang's 60th birthday.

May is beloved around the world for her time spent with John Lennon as his friend and companion, during which she produced his outstanding "Walls and Bridges" album .

She is also a treasured friend of Sid Bernstein - the man who brought The Beatles to America - having known him since visits to his office as a teenager.

In the soon to be 30 years that John is gone, May Pang has been instrumental in keeping the torch of John - and The Beatles - alive. Her constant stream of interviews and exhibitions - along with her book, "Instamatic Karma" ( a riff on John's song, "Instant Karma" ) - has served to keep memories flowing for those growing up in the very special times shared worldwide and to introduce younger generations to their magic and legacy.

"Little Steven" Van Zandt - Bruce Sringsteen / The E Street Band / Southside Johnny And The Asbury Dukes / "The Sopranos" ( HBO ) and XM/Sirius Radio - dropped by to share in the celebration and catch up with Sid.

The rolling jam weaved dozens of musicians in and out over the course of the night, and included Lou Christie - an artist whose million sellers, #1 Hits and chart toppers include "Lightnin' Strikes",  "The Gypsy Cried", "Two Faces Have I", "Rhapsody In The Rain" and "I'm Gonna Make You Mine" - and Gene Cornish, whose hits with The Young Rascals ( later The Rascals ) include " Good Lovin' ", "It's A Beautiful Morning", "How Can I Be Sure?" and "I Ain't Gonna Eat Out My Heart Anymore".

May thanked and blessed the gathering before being presented with a cake for her milestone that featured portraits of her and John from their days together as collaborative artists and loving friends.

A splendid time was more than guaranteed for all, with special thanks to The Music Factory / Gibson Annexe, whose tributes to Les Paul, celebrity autographed guitars, showroom, Main Studio and rooms to celebrate were beyond perfect for the tone and flavour of a magnificent night of great fun and super, swinging music.
