The music and spiritual awareness of George Harrison - as a Beatle and in his solo years - will be celebrated by Top Artist / Music Legend / 2 - Time ( back - to - back ) GRAMMY winner Roberta Flack, who will be preceded by a stunning variety of talented, dedicated groups - giving rise to a Concert filled with remarkable interpretations of George's music and vision in a kaleidoscope of musical modalities. Ms. Flack will be releasing a CD of all Beatles songs in the very near future.
In addition to Ms. Flack, other acts are :
The Doughboys / Creating a sensation in the New York Metro Area with a mix of their original compositions and remarkable cover versions of titles from The Rolling Stones, The Yardbirds, Cream and and The Animal
The Grip Weeds / Named as a tribute to the character portrayed by John Lennon in the 1967 film "How I Won The War", the Grip Weeds speciality is Psychedelic Power Pop. The group performs many of their own compositions, along with cover versions of titles by The Beatles and The Byrds. The recently released double CD - "Strange Change Machine" - was chosen as a #1 pick by Al Kooper on his website, and their music has been played by "Little Steven" Van Zandt on his Sirius / XM Underground Garage Channel.
The 253 Boys / Have produced theme music for Fox Soccer Channel & World Football Daily, and have received multiple
ASCAP awards including--for their most recent release--an original rock opera, New Day No War. The Band are the perfect blend of The Who's raw power and the Clash's hard edge.
Lou Volpe / A genius of the guitar, Lou Volpe is a Master Impressionistic Jazz Stylist. Lou's talent ranks with legendary guitarists Les Paul, Tal Farlow and Wes Montgomery. Lou has performed with Roberta Flack, Peggy Lee, Bo Diddley, Chet Baker, Liza Minnelli, Lionel Hampton, Manhattan Transfer ad Herbie Hancock, among other musical luminaries.
The Wyld Olde Souls / Classic Renaissance British Folk Rock - original, yet evocative of Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span - The Wylde Olde Souls bring forth images of forests, glens, and meadows. Their stirring odes to romance and the mystery of love are beautiful and touching in their delicacy and strength.
Something / Deriving their name from George's beloved song on "Abbey Road", Something is unique as an all-acousic Beatles band. The four very dedicated and skilled musicians in the group present a pleasing and solid interpretation of George's music and ideals.
